Below mentioned are the rules for speedrunning Dark Souls III for each respective category.

General rules

  • Runs are measured on IGT. When finishing, runners are required to show the IGT in their submission video after a run has ended. Runners are allowed to ALT+F4 at the "Begin a new Journey?" prompt after linking the first flame, then proceeding to show their IGT in the save file of the run in the "Load Game" option in the Main Menu. The IGT as shown in the save file in the "Load Game" option of the game is leading in a submission.
  • Runs must be performed "Offline". The player must switch the launch setting to: Play Offline. Optionally the player can choose to launch the game while Steam is in "Offline mode", preventing NPC invasions entirely.
  • Pressing ALT+F4 during the run to quit the game and prevent scenarios such as invasions is not allowed.
  • You may not use savefiles during your runs. Using savefiles is common when practicing certain parts in a run but these are not counted as 'official' times.
  • Any form of skip that utilizes a technique called Frame Skipping is fully banned in any run due to hardware limitations.
  • If you use the Save & Quit mechanic at any point during a run, you are required to resume gameplay immediately on the same character. Any delay in loading your character back in will cause a video to be denied, as you are intentionally keeping IGT from running without performing a game mechanic.
  • You may NOT visually obstruct game elements from the screen. All game elements that count towards the game's HUD need to be shown at ALL times during your submission.

Category specific rules

  • All above mentioned general rules also count next to any of the respective category specific rules.
